A little time later and now with a gratefully full belly, I was all ready and by the time Kaiden came back to pick up his prisoner, he found me dressed to impress. Oh, and speaking of dress, it was stunning and unlike anything I had ever worn before. Wide straps of the V-neck bodice extended over my shoulders, which also formed the V shape at my back. There was a band, embellished with beads and sequins that defined my waist and added a dash of sparkle. After this, it flowed down into tiers of tulle that glided over my hips when I moved, each layer with a horsehair border to create a fantastic high-low skirt. There was also a matching wrap, like the skirt, that would do little to ward off the chill but would look beautiful all the same.

As for my hair, it had been loosely lifted into a twist, so it overflowed with curls down my back and my make up Peri had done with two words in mind, smokey and sultry. In fact, I looked so stylish and sexy, that I doubted even Nat would have recognized me, as I barely even recognized myself!

But it had been Kaiden’s response when seeing me that still had me feeling as if I were walking on air and not the four-inch, black strappy heels I had been given to wear by Peri. Because walking hand in hand with Kaiden as we navigated our way through his mansion home, most definitely had me back to feeling like this was a dream again. But then the problem with this was that every step I took, I started to feel more and more like an imposter. Like when we were walking down the gallery, with tall arched windows all along one wall. It was night beyond them, therefore acting like a mirror and I swear, the sight of myself with him had me stopping dead.

“Is something wrong?” he asked the moment he saw me staring at myself as if I was transfixed by the sight. Was there something wrong? Gods, but how was I to answer such a thing?! How was I to tell him all the things that were now wrong with what I was staring at, for I wasn’t his Siren like he foolishly believed. I was the woman standing in her shoes, taking her place and going against the Gods themselves by just being here!

Oh yes, there was something wrong alright. Which was why I looked back up at him, put a hand to his cheek and told him,

“I am sorry but I…” In the end I never got to say what I wanted to say, as he told me,

“You’re perfect.” Then he kissed me and just like that, my will crumbled, as I became a slave to my desires…

A slave to my sins.
